We’ve extended the offer! The oVRcome Clinician Portal is now free until April 2026.

Clinicians FAQs
Our team members are clinical psychologists, developers, designers, and academics. Our HQ is based in Christchurch, New Zealand but we have Team members all over the world. Our physical location does not limit the market we operate in, either! With distribution centres in the United States, Australia, New Zealand and soon the UK, we operate worldwide. We also have a dedicated Support Team working in multiple timezones to provide a prompt technical assistance, whenever needed.
Yes, the oVRcome Clinician Portal is available to qualified clinicians globally, provided they can offer exposure therapy in their home country. We review all registrations and typically approve them within 1-2 business days. If we encounter any issues verifying your credentials through available databases, we will contact you for additional information.
oVRcome is HIPAA, and GDPR compliant. We are also due to gain the status of a Medical Device Class 1 by end of 2024 in the UK and USA. This makes oVRcome a confidential, secure, and safe tool to use with your clients.
oVRcome has been developed by a team of clinical psychologists and academics. It is backed by an extensive literature review that advises the benefits of VRET. We have also completed a 6-week clinical trial with The University of Otago which demonstrates the efficacy of our unique content. We have a couple more trials due to be published in early 2025 - watch this space!
From a client’s perspective, most people can use oVRcome. However, there are a few disqualifying factors that may prevent some users from effectively using VR in general. Examples include, but are not limited to:
Severe Visual Impairments
Extreme Vertigo or Balance Disorders
Seizure Disorders
Severe Motion Sickness
Significant Physical Limitations
Clinicians should evaluate these factors to ensure that VR therapy with oVRcome is a safe and appropriate option for each client. Please assess each client's suitability for VR therapy before starting.
For Clinicians:
Computer or Tablet: Ensure it supports the Chrome browser. While there are no strict technical requirements, a stable internet connection is essential, especially for live sessions.
For Distributing VR to Clients:
Clinician's Meta Quest (2, 3, 3s or Pro) or Pico 4: Clinicians will need their own headset to conduct in-person live sessions. Headsets can be shared between clinicians within the same clinic.
Client's Smartphone: Each client will need a compatible smartphone to download the oVRcome app from the Apple App Store or Google Play Store and use it with a simple VR headset. For optimal performance, the smartphone should:
Have a gyroscope
Feature a processor capable of running high-resolution VR videos
Offer at least 4GB of available storage
Be a current model (still in production)

No, in-person training is not necessary. The oVRcome Clinician Portal is designed to be intuitive and easy to use. You don't need advanced IT skills to get started. We offer a variety of tutorials and resources that cover all the features you need to know. Most users find they can become proficient with the platform in under an hour by exploring the tutorials and trying it out themselves.
Access to the oVRcome Clinician Portal is completely free for clinicians and clients to use for the remainder of 2025. For remote treatment or homework, we recommend that clients sign up for a smartphone subscription.
For additional information or assistance in choosing the right option for your needs, please contact our support team.
We’ve recently secured funding that allows us to continue improving the product and supporting clinicians —without needing to charge during this phase. Our goal is to build a truly world-class platform that supports scalable, evidence-based exposure therapy.
In 2026, we’ll introduce a two-tier model: a free (lite) version and a premium version. As a thank-you for early adopters, anyone who signs up before that transition will be offered access to the premium tier at a reduced cost. More details on pricing will be shared later in 2025. You won’t be charged unless you choose to subscribe.
We do not distribute any standalone headsets (Meta Quest or Pico) and require the clinician to already have their own device.
Yes we do, for additional USD29 + shipping cost (free in the US!)
Regarding smartphone headsets, both you and your clients (depending on who pays) have the option to source your own headset as part of the payment process. This can be particularly useful if you already have a compatible headset or wish to avoid the cost of international shipping.
Any Google Cardboard-style headset can be used with the app. If you choose a mid-range compatible headset, the quality should be satisfactory, although we cannot guarantee it.
If your phone's display exceeds 6.4" in diameter, you may also choose to source your own compatible headset. Just ensure that the headset is compatible with your phone’s size. We are unable to provide specific recommendations for alternative headsets.
If your box arrived without the QR code, there is no need to worry. Please find the QR headset on this page here: www.ovrcome.io/vr. Please calibrate your device, even if you have sourced your own VR headset.
oVRcome has the Industry’s largest library of real-life 360 footage with nearly 1000 environments across more than 15 phobia categories. This number is forever growing.
The vast majority of our content is real-life footage filmed with 360 for the most realistic feel. We do, however, have a few computer generated animations for harder to access environments, such as turbulence (flying).
All environments are pre-recorded and the user does not have the ability to influence them or move around them freely. However, we offer a variety of footage, from observational exposure (when a video focuses on observing e.g. needles) to being the POV and receiving an injection. Or walking through an airport.
No, currently the integration with higher-end headsets like the Quest/Pico 4 is only available for in-clinic use. For remote homework, clients will need to use a smartphone VR headset, which is already very effective for this purpose.
If your client experiences discomfort or issues with the VR content, first assess their reactions and adjust the exposure levels as needed. Consult the Clinician Guide in the Resources section of the Clinician Portal for initial guidance. If you need additional assistance or have specific questions, please reach out to our support team. While we offer prompt help with technical issues, please note that clinical guidance falls outside the scope of our support services.
While as a clinician, you’ll be best to understand the needs of your individual clients, our team of clinical psychologists - who have pioneered VRET in New Zealand - has prepared a guideline to assist you with transitioning clients from VRET into in vivo exposure. This document is available from the Resources tab in the Clinician Portal.
Currently, we do not offer distributor licenses. However, we may consider this option in the future. Please contact us for any updates or if you have specific partnership inquiries.
