Calibrating the app for your device
Every smartphone and VR headset model varies slightly in size and fit. To make sure you get the most out of your VR experience, the app needs to be calibrated specifically to your device setup.
The good news? Calibration is quick, easy, and only needs to be done once. Whether you received your headset from oVRcome or purchased one on your own, calibration is essential.
Instructions
Calibrating Your oVRcome Headset
You'll be prompted to calibrate your headset in the oVRcome app, either on the home screen, in settings, or via a pop-up when watching your first video. If you received your headset from us, setup is simple—no QR codes needed. Just choose Regular (default for most users, fits phones up to 6.4”) or Large.
After selecting an option that matches your headset, you’ll see a split screen. Insert your phone into the VR headset briefly to check the message, then remove it and tap 'x' to finish.

Calibrating a Sourced VR Headset
If you've purchased your headset independently, you still need to calibrate it using a dedicated QR code. Check the packaging for any calibration instructions. If you're unable to find it, contact the headset manufacturer for more information. You may also refer to some external QR codes here. This third-party resource is for guidance only and does not override any instructions we provide directly.
⚠️ Important: Please don’t scan the QR code using your phone’s regular camera.
It must be scanned within the oVRcome app. If you use your phone camera, it may prompt you to download the Google Cardboard app - which isn’t required or applicable to the oVRcome experience.
Getting the Best Visual Experience
Now that your headset is calibrated, let's address other common reasons for blurry or low-quality videos.
1. Video Quality Settings:
Before you jump into VR, you may want to check if your phone is set to display our highest quality video. The app defaults to 1080p to ensure compatibility with most devices. However, many newer phones, like iPhones and Samsung S-series models, can handle videos at 3K quality. Check your app settings and adjust this to get the best experience.
2. Wi-Fi Strength:
Wi-Fi strength is also a factor. If your videos are buffering or look choppy, you may not be getting the quality you selected due to a poor connection. For the clearest picture, try downloading videos in advance. You can find detailed instructions on how to do this on our FAQ page.
3. Headset and Phone Placement:
Now, it's finally time for some VR! When placing your phone into the headset, make sure it's snug and perfectly centered. Even a tiny misalignment can make everything look blurry. If necessary, remove your phone case to ensure a better fit.
4. Adjust the Lenses:
Once a video starts, use the dials on the headset to adjust the lenses until the image is clear. You may need to fine-tune this between videos, as a small shift in filming perspective can affect those settings.
5. Adjusting the Straps:
For maximum comfort, adjust the top and side straps separately before putting the headset on. This makes it easier to get a snug fit. Depending on your phone model, the headset may feel slightly top-heavy. Many users find it helpful to lightly support the headset with one hand during use, which can relieve pressure and keep it comfortably sealed against your face.
