We’re thrilled to share that oVRcome is collaborating with the University of Canterbury (UC) to integrate our virtual reality (VR) technology into their mental health research initiatives. This partnership aims to explore innovative approaches to treating fears and phobias using VR exposure therapy with a Meta Quest Pro together with the capture of physiological data using a Samsung Galaxy wearable.
Advancing Mental Health Treatment Through VR
Phobias such as fear of flying, heights, or public speaking can significantly impact individuals’ daily lives. Traditional exposure therapy has been effective, but VR offers a controlled, immersive environment where individuals can confront their fears safely and gradually.()
By collaborating with UC, we aim to validate and enhance the effectiveness of VR-based treatments. This research will contribute to developing accessible mental health solutions that can be utilized both in clinical settings and remotely.
Empowering Individuals and Clinicians
Our VR therapy programs are designed for flexibility and accessibility. Individuals can engage in self-guided sessions using their smartphones, while clinicians can incorporate VR into their practice through our clinician portal. This dual approach ensures that therapy is tailored to individual needs and circumstances.
Looking Ahead
This partnership with the University of Canterbury represents a significant step forward in integrating technology with mental health treatment. We are committed to continuing our research and development to provide effective, evidence-based VR therapy solutions.
